Welcome Milton to the Rescue!

We are thrilled to introduce Milton, Molly's adorable brother. While Molly takes after their Poodle mother, Milton resembles their Chihuahua/Terrier mix father. Milton and his siblings were surrendered to us by a family in Stockton who, unfortunately, faced difficult circumstances. Out of the litter of four, Heart of Galt Rescue welcomed two, and we happily took in Milton and Molly. 

Currently, Milton is recovering from an eye infection caused by a corneal scratch he sustained from another dog. Thanks to his caretaker’s diligent efforts, his eye has significantly improved, as shown in the before-and-after photos. However, his eye remains cloudy, and there is a chance he may lose partial or full vision in it. We will continue monitoring his condition with follow-up vet visits. Like his sister, Milton is approximately 11 weeks old and has begun his vaccination and deworming series. He'll also be scheduled for neutering soon.

Meet 'Bebe' – the newest member of our rescue family!

Bebe’s journey began when a kind-hearted Samaritan found her and shared her story on the Nextdoor App. Despite waiting patiently for her owner to come forward, no one claimed her. That’s when we stepped in to give her the care and love she deserves. Bebe is an affectionate, attention-loving pup, estimated to be around 10–12 weeks old. While we suspect she might be a Dachshund mix.

Penelope’s Rescue Journey:

Penelope was discovered all alone in the grass near a building, in heartbreaking condition. She was severely underweight, infested with fleas, and suffering from a respiratory infection so severe that her eyes were sealed shut—unable to see the world around her.

Thanks to dedicated veterinary care, love, and patience, Penelope began her incredible recovery. Her eyes opened, her breathing improved, and her sweet, playful personality finally had a chance to shine.

Now healthy, happy, and full of life, Penelope is ready to find the loving forever home she has always deserved.

Meet Chester!

Chester’s story began when our dedicated local networker, spotted him wandering alone in her neighborhood and stepped in to help. This sweet little guy has a gentle nature and is comfortable with kind handling. Estimated to be around 3 months old, Chester is already neutered and vaccinated, ready to start his journey toward a loving home.

Having grown up feral, he’s still learning proper litter box habits, but we’re confident he’ll catch on quickly. Chester will soon have his first wellness check at the vet, get microchipped, and then he’ll be all set for his forever home!

Meet Oscar!

Oscar is an adorable 8-month-old Pug mix with a heart full of love. He came to us after his owner, sadly, suffered a stroke and could no longer care for him. Oscar is a bundle of joy—playful, affectionate, and always eager to stay by your side. Though he didn’t have much interaction with other animals before, he’s thriving in his foster home and gets along wonderfully with his furry housemates.

Oscar spent most of his life outdoors, but we believe he would absolutely cherish the comfort and love of being an indoor dog. He’s fully vaccinated and will be ready for adoption after his neuter procedure.

This tiny, fluffy sweetheart is ready to be pampered and loved for the rest of her life. Muffin was found wandering the streets of Stockton, where a kind-hearted Samaritan took her in but, unfortunately, couldn't keep her. After being checked for a microchip and placed on a stray hold with no results, she's now ready to find her forever home.

At just about 4 months , Muffin will soon receive her vaccinations, be microchipped, and spayed when she's old enough. We believe she’s a long-haired Chihuahua mix, and her cuteness is absolutely irresistible! If you’re interested in giving Muffin the loving home she deserves.

Meet Niles!

Say hello to Niles, a cheerful and energetic pup with a heart full of love! This little adventurer was found wandering the streets of Fresno before being brought to the Fresno Humane Shelter by a kind-hearted individual. Niles arrived alongside Daphne (though they aren’t related), and it didn’t take long for his sweet and friendly personality to shine.

Niles is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with everyone—cats, dogs, kids, and even strangers! True to his Jack Russell spirit, he’s full of energy and joy, but we believe he’s a mix of Jack Russell and Chihuahua. At just 5 months old and 10 pounds, he’s the perfect combination of playful and affectionate. Whether it’s zooming around or snuggling up for cuddles and kisses, Niles loves it all.

CAVA Sanctuary, located in San Joaquin County, California, is proud to have Niles in its care. He is currently being fostered in Stockton, CA, where he’s waiting to bring endless joy to his forever family.

Meet Daphne: A Precious Addition to Our Rescue Family

Daphne may only be 4 months old, but her story is already one of resilience and hope. She came to us from Fresno Humane, along with her kennel mate Niles. Daphne was part of a heartbreaking case involving over 20 small Chihuahua mixes that were abandoned in an open field after the property they lived on, formerly inhabited by unhoused individuals, was bulldozed. Thankfully, her previous owner recognized the need for help and surrendered 14 of the dogs to Fresno Humane. Although our rescue was already near capacity, we knew we had to step in. We decided to welcome Daphne into our care and lighten the load, even if just a little.

When Daphne first arrived, she was understandably scared, timid, and incredibly guarded. Adjusting to her foster home took time, but she found comfort in the presence of the other animals there, bonding with them almost immediately. To our surprise, Daphne came with a bit of training—she’s pad-trained for potty needs and sleeps well in her kennel. Over time, her sweet, gentle nature began to shine, and it became clear that Daphne is a truly special little girl who will make an amazing companion for the right family.

Daphne is a 9.7 lb Chihuahua mix, born on April 8th, 2025.

Meet Victor, our newest addition to the Rescue family! 💫

Victor is an adorable Chihuahua/Poodle/Terrier mix, approximately 2 years old, and weighing in at just 10 lbs. This little guy is on a mission to find his perfect forever home.

Victor’s journey hasn’t been easy. He spent a long time roaming the streets of Stockton until a kind-hearted family took him in. They searched tirelessly for a rescue group to help Victor, and that’s where we came in. He’s been with us for about a month as we worked on getting him prepared for adoption. When Victor first arrived, he was timid and reactive, which his rescuers explained was how he had initially behaved with them too. But with time and patience, Victor began to trust them and became much easier to handle.

We are looking for a home where Victor will be given the time and space to decompress. His ideal family will be patient, understanding, and willing to help him adjust to his new surroundings. It’s crucial to give him those first few weeks to settle in and feel secure. Based on his behavior, we suspect Victor may have experienced abuse in the past, which explains why he’s initially hand-shy. However, with love and care, he’s already shown incredible progress.

Once Victor starts to feel safe, his true personality shines. He’s a sweet, loving, and playful pup who enjoys being touched, bathed, hugged, and kissed. A wonderful bonus? Victor has an instant connection with children! While he was hesitant with his adult foster at first, he immediately bonded with her daughter, showing his natural affection for kids.

BONDED SENIOR PAIR ALERT 💫

Meet Pops and Carmella, a heartwarming father-daughter duo who have just joined our rescue family. At 10 and 9 years old, respectively, these senior Pomchis were surrendered by their previous owners, who were unable to dedicate the time and care they deserved. Having spent their entire lives together, these two are deeply bonded, and we are committed to keeping them together—no exceptions. 

Pops and Carmella are tiny but mighty! Pops weighs in at just 4 lbs, while Carmella is a petite 7 lbs. Their connection is truly special—Carmella always looks to Pops for guidance and only ventures where he leads, trusting him completely. They are both in good health, full of life, and ready to bring endless love to their forever home. We are seeking adopters who can commit to giving them a stable, loving environment for the rest of their lives, until they cross the rainbow bridge 🌈.
